Family ski hotels in Zermatt

Zermatt is a car-free village in the Valais at about 1,600 m, reached by train, with skiing up to the Klein Matterhorn at 3,883 m and roughly 360 km of pistes, including the link to Cervinia in Italy. Beginners and young children learn at Wolli's park near the Leisee on the Sunnegga side, where five free magic carpets sit in a sheltered, sunny spot. Children under 9 ski free with a photo pass, and the Swiss Ski School Zermatt runs full-day group lessons for ages 4 and up. The village is walkable but steep in places, so hotels near the Sunnegga funicular or the station save the most time with small children.
